The Area
Culture. Nature. Beauty. There’s a reason Ponce is often referred to as “La Perla del Sur" (Pearl of the South). As the second most important city in Puerto Rico, Ponce has some of the best of what the island has to offer, from top restaurants and nightlife along a gorgeous coastline, to the recently revitalized historic downtown district. Worth a visit, Plaza de las Delicias dates from the late 17th century and has been declared a national treasure with its ornate fountains, cathedral and local bench sitting denizens. The unique red and black, century old wooden firehouse, commonly known as "Parque de Bombas" is a landmark and still in use.
