As the second most important city in Puerto Rico, Ponce has some of the best of what the island has to offer, from top restaurants and nightlife along a gorgeous coastline, to the recently revitalized historic downtown district. Worth a visit, Plaza de las Delicias dates from the late 17th century and has been declared a national treasure with its ornate fountains, cathedral and local bench sitting denizens. The unique red and black, century old wooden firehouse, commonly known as "Parque de Bombas" is a landmark and still in use.
